1st Annual
Children's Health Fair
The
Children’s Care clinic hosted the 1st Children’s
Health Fair on July 28, 2007 at the DeQuincy Railroad Museum.
The event was a huge success considering the amount of rain we
received! We had over 100 children that attended. There were
families from DeQuincy, Lake Charles, Fields, Singer,
Merryville, and Moss Bluff that registered.
We
had many exciting activities such as, the Dunking Booth, the
Jump House, and Face Painting. The DHS football players and
cheerleaders helped make this fun for the children.
The
Children’s Care Clinic booth hosted the “Teddy Bear
Clinic”, in which they received a free teddy bear provided by
Brighton Bridge Hospice. Dr. Adamson demonstrated on the bear
what he does during an office visit. The children enjoyed
interacting with Dr. Adamson, and received a bag of toys,
brochures, stickers, and pencils.
The
DeQuincy and Vinton Fire Department demonstrated fire safety and
gave tours of the fire truck and fire safety trailer. The kids
really enjoyed their exhibit.
The
Office of Public Health gave out information on seat belt and
car seat safety. The representative interacted with the parents
showing the correct way to buckle their children. They really
enjoyed her demonstrations.
Acadian
Ambulance gave tours of the ambulance.
The
DARE representative handed out information on staying drug-free.
Family
Respiratory Services, LaChip, and Dr. Bayles handed out
information on their services.
The
immunization booth was a success also. The nurses from DeQuincy
Memorial Hospital administered 34 vaccines. This was a free
clinic to the children.
Our
MC was Courtney Shaw, the 2007 Railroad Festival Queen. She did
a great job introducing our booths and exhibits. She also handed
out over $400 in door prizes provided by:
Temple Inland, Walmart, Kmart, Popeye’s, Fausto’s,
Sabine State Bank, Chase Bank, City Savings Bank, Movie Gallery,
Target, Putt-Putt Miniature Golf, Petro Bowl, and Nichol’s.
We
would like to thank everyone who participated in this event.
Thank you so much for making the Children’s Health Fair a huge
success.
